"That’s not true!

There is NO WAY that Wannahumpa has co-ed showers!"

​Emma sat on the floor in her cabin with Stacey, Avery, and Mia, playing go-fish and gossiping. Mia, who was in her fourth and final year at Camp Chaste, was obviously trying to put one over on the new girl.

​It wasn't the first time Emma's status as a newbie was leveraged into a practical joke. On her first day, Mia assigned her to see if anyone had seen evidence of the 'Snipe' that had gotten into their cabin and eaten the cookies out of the care package Emma's mom had sent with the eighteen-year-old.

​Despite having three younger siblings, Emma's mom started having an acute case of empty nest syndrome when she realized that her 'Little girl' would go to camp for the summer before going off to college.

​Not that the Christain college the next town over from where she grew up was exactly 'Off' anywhere, but that didn't seem to help the overbearing woman.

​Emma had gone to five different cabins, leaving giggles in her wake, before one of the second years had taken pity on her and fessed up that 'Snipes' weren't real. She would have taken the joke with more grace if the other counselors in her unit hadn't eaten the cookies. In a fit of motherly good intentions, her mom had made her favorite, butterscotch oatmeal, and she hadn't even got one!

​So, there was no way something as ridiculous as co-ed showers at Wannahumpa would take her in.

​She hadn't realized it during the seven summers she had spent as a camper at Chaste growing up, but with few exceptions, the counselors were all judgy stuck up… B. I. T. C. Hs. The rumor was just another way for them to feel superior to the 'Deviants' that staffed Chaste's less-reputable sister camp.

​Mia shook her head. "I'm telling you, it's true. One counselor in my first year snuck over and saw it! There were men AND women in the showers together like it was no big deal." The older counselor lowered her voice into a stage whisper. "She even said that some men had their…." She gestured to her crotch, "Thingees hard, but just kept talking to everyone like it was completely natural."

​At the word 'Thingees,' Stacey and Avery started giggling uncontrollably. They were both a year older than Emma but went to an all-girls college, so the idea of men was still an abstract concept.

​At least the college she was to attend was co-ed, although the individual classes were same sex only. Her conservative, controlling mother and father had never allowed her to date. So, her single sexual experience had been a frantic make-out session with Billy Connely under the bleachers at the end of senior year, which the highlight of was getting her breast squeezed over the clothes.

​The memory still made her privates tingle, but the two of them were too exposed to go further before the basketball game finished.

​Perhaps sensing something in her too-happy mood, her mom had tightened the reins, so she never had the chance to repeat the experience.
